Get my life, put Jesus out and what remains is who i used to be. Unfortunately i got no guts to define myself any more! Who am i to define myself anyway and how can i be so cheap to a point of allowing peer pressure, achievements and the media to tell me who i should be? Now a Mercedes Benz is not a jaguar cos it is a Benz. regardless of how many Jaguars surround it, it still doesn't change into one.
The point here is God made me and that in itself makes me unique.I dont know about you but i am fearfully and wonderfully made, Period!! Now why should i strive to be what someone else is, ha? OK fine, it is very good to look up to someone but the problem comes in when we start doing things like them. Think about balancing your pants like aah..., i forget the guy or maybe Steal so as to fit in with your peer. All these efforts to be like someone else end up stopping us from being who we are supposed to be and in the end what ever we do doesn't give us full satisfaction.
Have you ever thought about being you or finding out who you really are? Do you ever struggle with who you want to be? Do not let anything define you. Not even your Job. its funny but, Identity, or psychological identity, is your capacity for self-reflection and awareness. People usually acquire their identities through reflecting on the tasks they do and the objects they identify themselves with. For example, if you asked someone “who are you?” and he replied saying “I am the restaurant’s chef“, then this person identities himself with his job and thinks of himself as the chef instead of Robin or Tom.
A person who proudly drives his big car may be identifying with his car. He is showing off, not just to show he's rich, but because he thinks of himself as the “Big Car Owner”. This is usually the same person who you will find shyly walking with his head down when he suffers a financial crisis that forces him to replace his car with a smaller one. This happens because he identified himself with the car and so when the car was lost, he found himself with no identity: he used to be the "Big Car Owner", now he is nothing.
Now, its time to style up. Dont be your job or your Car or your Pastor be you. This is where true happiness is going to be derived.
The reason i am happy is cos i Know who i am. Do you struggle with identity crises, look no further God made you and God will tell who you really are!!
